Koblenz. The name describes the position of the town, because Koblenz (still sometimes seen in its quaint, old-fashioned spelling, Coblentz) developed from the small fort at the point where the Mosel flows into the Rhine which the Romans called "ad confluentes" - at the meeting of the waters.
